Rivers Waste Management Agency to restore Port Harcourt's status as Nigeria’s Garden City
Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency, Bro Felix Obuah has declared that his agency will return Port Harcourt City to its glory days as the garden city of the nation.
Addressing journalists on the efforts to clean up Port Harcourt after the city was messed up by the immediate past administration, Bro Obuah noted that with the success of the strategies adopted by his agency in the past one week, in one year all parts of the Rivers State capital will be environmentally friendly.

He attributed the success of the environmental restoration of Port Harcourt City to the commitment of Governor Nyesom Wike to environmental best practices and the support he has given to the agency.
He said : " We have been successful in cleaning up Port Harcourt because of the full support we are getting from the governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. You can see that in just one week, we have cleaned up several locations in the state capital.
"If we have done this in one week, in one year we shall restore Port Harcourt as the nation’s garden city."
The Sole Administrator added that the State Governor has also made available funds for the payment of refuse contractors owed by the immediate past administration, which stands at over N2billion.
On the termination of the contracts of non performing service providers, the Sole Administrator explained that his agency followed due process as all providers were given the opportunity to redeem themselves.
He noted that the agency has taken proactive measures to ensure that the state capital does return to the days of dirt occasioned by the negligence of the Amaechi administration.
He informed that the agency has acquired special refuse collection tricycles and information vehicles to collect refuse at designated points and and also embark on public enlightenment.
Obuah said that specific time have been alloted for the disposal of refuse in Port Harcourt. He noted that after the public enlightenment, those who fail to respect the timing will be prosecuted.
