ABUJA—The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has said that work is at an advanced stage to complete the first Nigerian software testing centre in Lagos.
Director General of the agency, Dr. Peter Jack, disclosed this, yesterday, at a briefing in Abuja.
He said the essence of the centre is to ensure that all software developed in Nigeria are taking to the centre for standard test and to ascertain their compatibility with the systems of the centre.
The centre, which will be the first of its kind in Africa will be ready for commissioning soon.
He said: “We are already developing a software testing centre in Lagos and very soon, the centre will become operational.
“The whole essence of the centre is that any software developed in Nigeria will be tested at the centre to ascertain its compatibility with those softwares and our systems. If it runs perfectly, we are going to pass it and then recommend it as approved software for use by NITDA.”
