Impeachment: Fayose Absolves Buhari

Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayo Fayose yesterday absolved President Muhammadu Buhari from the alleged plot by the 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the outgone state house of assembly to impeach him.
The governor stated this yesterday during the inauguration of the fifth assembly of the state in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital where the former publicity secretary of the state Peoples Democratic Party, Pastor Kolawole Oluwawole emerged new speaker of the house.

Fayose, who had earlier held a public procession around Ado-Ekiti to express his gratitude to the people for their supports during the trying time said, available security reports showed that Buhari had no hands in the impeachment plot against him (Fayose).

According to him, “Today marks the real beginning of my administration. The last seven months had been months of distraction. By this inauguration, the impeachment plot is defeated. We will hit the ground running from today.” The governor, who appealed to the new lawmakers to operate like a family advised them to adhere strictly to the constitution as they carry out their legislative duties.
While thanking the people of the state for their support during the turbulent period, he promised to pay all outgone members of the assembly their entitlements.

Earlier, the new speaker, Rt. Hon Oluwawole (Moba I) had sworn-in the other 25 lawmakers after the clerk of the house gave Governor Fayose the go ahead to proclaim the holding of the first session of the new assembly.
Other new principal officers of the house are Hon Olusegun Adewumi (Ekiti West I), deputy speaker, Hon Sunday Akinniyi (Ikere II), chief whip and Hon Olatunji Akinyele(Oye II), house leader.
Hon Oluwawole assured that the new assembly won’t overreach its bounds and shall uphold principle of mutual respect in dealing with the executive arm.
