Good News to Apple Users
Apple declares war on Spotify and Tidal: Tech giant unveils its own music streaming service - which will be available on ALL phones
Apple has unveiled its long-awaited music streaming service - Apple Music - as it prepares to go head-to-head with Spotify and Jay Z's Tidal service.
The service (left) will cost $9.99 a month for American users when it launches on June 30, but pricing for the other 100 countries has yet to be unveiled. It will be available as a single app and consist of three main features - a music service, a 24-hour global radio station and a social network for artists to share with fans.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook - who was joined by senior vice president Eddy Cue (centre) and rapper Drake (right) in unveiling the service - told his audience in San Francisco: 'It will change the way that you experience music forever.' As well as being available on Apple devices, the service will have a Windows version and, from the autumn, a version for Android devices.
