Experts Call For Review Of Health System Administration
Health experts on Thursday said there was urgent need to review health system administration in the country.
They said this was due to the fact that they were faulty and had failed to yield the desired results.
The experts made the call at a Forum on the Future of Health Care Services in Nigeria, organised by Nigeria Health Watch, an NGO, in Abuja.
Prof Shima Gyoh, one of the panelists, said there were weak regulatory framework and absence of mechanisms for enforcement.
Gyoh said that the activities of quacks and the proliferation of clinics across the country were the direct consequences of an ailing system.
Gyoh said if addressed, the negative health indices recorded by the country in the past decades would be reversed and the lost confidence restored.
Commissioner for Health in Ondo State, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, urged other states to adopt the primary health care model of Ondo state to address challenges of primary health care delivery.
He said the disparity between investment in the sector and results achieved would continue to exist until the Federal, State and Local governments adopted a strategy that complemented one another.
