Court declines to stop the dissolution of controversially elected Rivers Councils
A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has refused to stop the dissolution of the illegal councils produced through the controversial elections conducted by RSIEC.
The council chairmen had approached the court through suit number FHC/PH/CS/134/2015, Hon. Ngo v Governor of Rivers State and 7 others.
The controversially elected 22 chairmen filed the action to prevent their dissolution by the governor and the State House of Assembly. They are also seeking orders for the governor and the State House of Assembly not to tamper with their finances.
They came via exparte motion to enforce these rights.
Justice Quadri who presided over the matter ruled that all the respondents be placed on Notice.
The respondents include the governor of Rivers State, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Rivers State House of Assembly, the Inspector General of Police, the Federal Revenue and Fiscal Commission.
