Bayelsa APC Factions Trade Words Over Alleged Expulsion

Yenagoa—The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State, Monday, took a new twist as two factions of the party traded words over alleged suspension, expulsion and counter suspension and expulsion of its key members.

A faction of the party, under the aegis of Integrity Group, claimed that the state party Chairman, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe and his Deputy, Eddy Julius, were suspended alongside the state Secretary, Daniel Marlin and a member of the Board of Trustee, Peres Peretu, over alleged anti-party activities.

The chairman of the party, Chief Orunimighe, however, said that the group known as Integrity Group was not recognised by the party as the purported expulsion of the party official was a joke and an unconstitutional act.

He said: “The signatories to the purported expulsion are non-existent. The only body that has the right to suspend members of the State Working Committee of the party is the National Working Committee.”
