Akwa Ibom: FG Provides Relief Materials To Support Victims

The Federal Government has provided relief materials to support the rehabilitation of victims of communal crisis in Etimbok village in Ibiono-Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mohammed Sani-Sidi who said this while presenting the items at the weekend said the items were delivered based on recommendations by a joint assessment conducted by NEMA and the Akwa Ibom State Government.

Items presented included food and non-food items.

He urged the State Government to ensure that the items get to the actual victims and appealed to the warring communities to stop incessant destruction of lives and property by embracing peace for national development.

Receiving the items on behalf of the State Government, The Deputy Governor, Obong Moses Ekpo, thanked the Federal Government for approving the relief items for the victims of the communal crisis.

The Deputy Governor said the communal crisis has brought untold hardship, losses and tears to communities in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area since 1956 and government will no longer tolerate acts of lawlessness
